Bio

Who: Cassandra Richoux

Contact me at crichoux@gmail.com

I am currently a graduate student in publishing, working for Ooligan Press (our student run press, with 6-10 books a year) in Marketing and Children’s Acquisitions. I also do freelance editing and quite a bit of writing on the side.

What: A reader. Books have always been my passion, from devouring every book in sight as a child, to filling up at least a third of a moving truck with boxes of books as an adult. My dad taught me to always have a book on me, and I still keep to that rule.  Reviewing books was a rather logical next step.

Where: Portland, Oregon.  In my cozy little house, with a dog literally on my feet and a cat keeping a spot on my bed warm. And with a roommate who is willing to put up with inane questions at three in the morning, as long as she wasn’t already asleep.

When: Now, and for as long as I have time to read, and the brain capacity to create comprehensive reviews.

Why: I’ve always been a passionate advocate of young adult fantasy books. Everyone who knows me has probably been told exactly why they are missing some great books, and now I plan to take my crusade to the internet.  YA Fantasy simply doesn’t get the attention it deserves, at least beyond the newest Harry Potter or Eragon.  The headline books get a bit of press, but there are so many other great books out there. My intention with this review site is to bring attention to the good books, and more than that, explain why the books are interesting, complex, and worthy of your precious time.  I’m a college student, a grad student for that matter.  I know how rare time for personal reading is.

How: Via the internet, the good will of friends and my darling editor, Chelsea, who loves YA Fantasy nearly as much as I do. And most of all, by parents that kept me reading and never discouraged me, no matter what book I wanted to tackle.
