Books of 2008

I’m a bit behind the curve, like always, but Colleen at Chasing Ray challenged bloggers to list books they are looking foward to in 2008.  It’s great to read everyone else’s lists, because they point out books that I didn’t know where coming.  And here I go…

A Curse as Dark as Gold by Elizabeth C Bunce– Everyone is talking about this book. Everyone. I’m going to see if I can’t bribe my way to an ARC, but if not, I think its gotta be on my limited hard cover list.

Out of the Wild by Sarah Beth Durst – The first one finally made it to the top of my list and I’m currently zooming through it. I’m sure I’ll be needing the second one when I get done.

Princess Ben by Catherine Gilbert Murdock – Just sounds kind of interesting.

Dragon Flight by Jessica Day George – Surprised Miss Erin didn’t mention this on her list, considering how much she pestered me to read the first ^_^  But now I can’t wait for the sequel.

Twice Upon a Marigold by Jean Ferris – I just reread the first one, so I’m ready to find out what happens next!

Ever by Gail Carson Levine – Love the author, love all of her books I’ve read.

Rapunzel’s Revenge by Shannon and Dean Hale – I can’t see how Shannon Hale in graphic novel form could be a bad thing.

The Host: A Novel by Stephenie Meyer – Honestly, Meyer never really appealed to me before, but this book sounds pretty interesting. Maybe this’ll finally be the year I read Twilight as well.

The Red Necklace by Sally Gardner – By the author of I, Coridander. That alone will make me try it out.

The Crimson Thread: A Retelling of "Rumpelstiltskin" (Once Upon a Time) by Suzanne Wey – Okay, I think we’ve all figured out my soft spot for the Once Upon a Time series by now…

Cybele’s Secret by Juliet Marillier – I’m excited about this one on behalf of everyone else.

Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow by Jessica Day George – Looking at Amazon, it is technically already out. See, I’ve been good and avoiding the bookstore!

Artemis Fowl: The Time Paradox by Eoin Colfer  - Okay, this might have been a case of saving the best for last. I mean, new Artemis Fowl!!! ^_^

And, if you want to know what other books are coming out this year, LittleWillow has compiled a month-by-month list.

Ha ^_^ I know, I’m excited about that one… and about so many others as well.

Have you seen any info for the Rapunzel’s Revenge book? I couldn’t find it on amazon and all I could seem to find was a tiny mention Shannon Hale’s website. Plus, of course, you telling everyone about it on various sites -_^

Shannon said in an interview that RR was coming out this fall, but other than that I know nothing… :)

Huh, well, its odd that it doesn’t show up on amazon yet, but I guess September is quite a ways away still. I wonder who the publisher for it is?

Sorry, I meant the rapunzel’s revenge book. That doesn’t seem to show up on amazon yet.

Erin reply on January 21, 2008:

Oh gosh, of course, silly me. Obviously I didn’t remember what we were talking about. *rolls eyes*

YAY! … I can tell I spend too much of my time online, when I don’t belive a book is really coming out until it has an amazon page.

  3. These all sound great. I’ll be adding them to my wishlist. :)

My thing about Twilight, as well as most urban paranormal fantasy books, is that I know people who will honestly tell you they are vampires. Granted, these people mostly aren’t friends, but I’ve known way too many people who swear they were a elf in a past life, etc. So urban fantasy just sounds too much like having a conversation with them.

  5. I’m glad you’re looking forward to CURSE! I hope you enjoy it.

Personally, I can’t wait for OUT OF THE WILD or CYBELE’S SECRET, either. :)

    Thanks for the mention,

Well, everyon only has wondeful things to say about Curse, so I’m excited! Don’t suppose you could tell me who to contact about an ARC, I’d love to review it here? -_^

Out of the Wild looks wonderful, especially since I just caught up and finished Into the Wild. And Cybele’s Secret is a great book. I’m bad to the American book industry right now, because I’m telling people to go order it from Australia. Heres my review on it - http://yafantasy.com/cybeles-secret/
