Cybele’s Secret is out in Australia
Today we have a quick lesson on why making friends with authors is fun (and for that matter, writing book reviews are also fun).
In the mail today, was my beautiful new copy of Cybele’s Secret by Juliet Marillier. After the US release date got horribly pushed back (Fall 2008), I contacted her about how to order an Australian copy(btw, order it here). Well, being as wonderful as she is, Juliet offered to send me a review copy once she got her author copies. So, now, I will be reading this book for the rest of the evening because it trumps everything else on my reading list (and here I was just starting to get into Return to Zandria, Into the Wild, and The Goose Girl. Yes, I do tend to read a lot at once.). I’m sure everyone has books like that… Actually, that’s a good question.
What book are you excited about that’s coming out soon, or what author do you drop everything to read when they have a new book?
For me, besides this book obviously, I tend to drop everything for a new Sharon Shinn book and I’m hoping Mercedes Lackey will put out another book in the 500 Kingdoms world. And of course, the next Artemis Fowl book already has a place reserved in my reading list.

Oooh, is that the sequel to Wildwood Dancing? If so, I’m so jealous! I have to wait until next year to read it! I loved Wildwood Dancing!
Hehe, I know, I’d be jealous of me too ^_^. I’m considering buying another few copies of the book and running a contest for my one year blog aniversary with them as the prize. Have to think about what the contest should be though.
Author I drop everything for: Shannon Hale, Lesley M. M. Blume
and The Garden of Eve by K. L. Going, since I just went to the readergirlz chat with that author last night.
Book I really want right now: the newest Babymouse book
LOL, well, when you get back to it, I hope you enjoy Return to Zandria
I totally drop anything else for Juliet Marillier’s books! She is my favorite author (the only author who’s books go on my 100+ year old shelf that has my notebooks on it!). I also really enjoy Tamora Pierce and Diana Gabaldon!
Hmm, I haven’t heard of Diana Gabaldon, I’ll have to look her up.
