Golden Compass Movie

Heres another book I haven’t read but keep on my shelf.  Maybe I’ll get around to reading it before the movie opens.  Anyways, good article about the new movie and some of the difficulties it has faced to come to the big screen.  At least I finally realized that Dakota Blue Richards and Dakota Fanning are different people.  That explains why my friend went “Did she change her last name…?” when we saw the preview at Potter.

And I don’t know how much the American Girl books affected your lives, but I loved them growing up. I enjoyed the hummanity of the stories and history.  The two newest girls will be released this fall (since they’ve started releasing the main girl and a best friend these days), Julie and Ivy, who live in 1970’s San Francisco.

I had Kirsten and Molly, and they were my prized possesions. I even saved up to buy Molly, while Kirsten was a birthday present one year.

  1. The Golden Compass (and the rest of the trilogy) is really great. I’ve read a couple American Girl books… I like the “Meet Felicity” one, although I hardly remember what happened in it……

  2. Someday I will get to Golden Compass -_- Hopefully before the movie.

I loved the American Girl books. My mom worked in museums before she she had me, so family vacations were pretty much going from museum to museum across the country (and a bit in Europe as well ^_^) so I learned to love history, especially humanized history. So the American Girl books were an early love of mine. Heck, I read them back when there wre only 3 girls. I remember when Felicity had been released, and I thought it was sooooo cool, cause I’d been to Williamsburg where she lived a few times (it’s this awesome living history village these days).
