Royalty Rules and 2K8 Challenge

It’s time to challenge myself with two new reading lists!

Royalty Rules Reading Challenge

Okay, so I’m late on this, but the deadline is April 30th, so I’ve got no worries. Here are the books I plan to read:

Seeing Redd by Frank Beddor (okay, so I’m halfway through this already, but I think this is the only way I’m gong to make it through the book. It keeps losing my interest.)

The Decoy Princess by Dawn Cook (I’ve always wanted to read it, but when I first started it, I found out that there was another book coming out in a year and that this one ends kind of abruptly, so I planned to wait. And waiting ending up meaning forgetting.

Princess Nevermore by Dian Curtis Regan (Bought it on a whim, never read it, but I like the cover. And looking for an amazon link, I just found out there is a sequel book as well.)

Princess Acadamy by Shannon Hale (I keep wanting to read it, but it never gets to the top of my reading list. So now I have to make time for it.

Huh, I wonder what is says when three out of four titles have Princess in them?

Class of 2K8 Reading Challenge

Courtesy of Teen Book Review the challenge is to read a set number of books by debut authors. The Class of 2K8 has a number of members and information about their books. My challenge will be to read all the YA fantasy/science fictions books, which are the following:

Elizabeth C. Bunce - A Curse Dark as Gold
Terri Clark - Sleepless
Marissa Doyle - Bewitching Season
Lisa Schroeder - I Heart You, You Haunt Me

I glanced through the middle grade list as well, but only Laurel Snyder’s Up and Down the Scratchy Mountains jumped out at me enough to commit to reading it without some peer reviews.

  1. I’m doing the “Royalty Rules” challenge too. It’s fun.

I figure it will make me read some books I’ve been meaning to read, but haven’t yet.

    Link to your list?

  2. Okay, so I’m outing myself as a self-googler, but I just had to say THANK YOU for the mention!!!

My book is a little odd, from a marketing standpoint. A little old fashioned and silly, and it’s hugely nice to know that some people out there will pull it off the (virtual) shelves…

Well, it struck me as a fun fairytale style adventure, which always sound good to me. With a title like that, it also had better be funny ^_^

If ARCs are being sent out, I’d be interested in reviewing it.

  3. I’m doing that challenge too!

    Oo, want to exchange links?

crichoux reply on March 2nd, 2008:

Sounds good ^_^ I’m gonna throw you on my blog roll now.

I’m enjoying Princess Academy so far, but I’m being distracted by school books right now -_-

  4. And, I forgot to add this..

I just read Princess Academy, I think you’ll enjoy it ;)

  5. I just read Princess Nevermore. I picked it up years ago and found it on my bookshelf. I found out I have the old edition and that she added some stuff to the new addition and the sequel as well. I have to see if I can pick that up since I actually liked it. I don’t know why I haven’t read it before!

I am going to start Princess Academy today after finishing the goose girl (which I just LOVED!). I am really enjoying Shannon Hale so far, and I have to thank you! If it wasn’t for your website, I don’t know when I would have picked up her stuff!

I also just kind of came across it. At a used bookstore probably, but then it just lived on my shelf for awhile. I’m using this challenge to make me read books I’ve been meaning to read, but won’t without some forcing.

New content? Huh.. I’ve got the old version as well. You’ll have to tell me what is added. If I enjoy it, I’ll check out the sequel, and probably now have to get the newer edition as well.

  6. Thanks for taking up the Class of 2k8 reading challenge. I hope you’ll like I Heart You and Curse as Dark as Gold as much as I did. I found both books impossible to put down–and needing much Kleenex at the end. And although Sleepless (which is what I was from reading the previously mentioned books) and Bewitching Season aren’t in my hands yet, I’m expecting great things from my fellow Class of 2k8ers–the excerpts I’ve seen so far look terrific.
